The Rev. Dwight Shelhart, developed Martin Luther Church
and in March of 1950 we incorporated. We then formally organized on April
2, 1950, and called our first pastor, The Rev. D. R. Gerberding. In
September, we purchased the church site.
In April of 1953 we dedicated the Martin Luther Chapel and on December 9,
1956 the groundbreaking for the new Parish Education Building took place.
In 1970 Martin Luther received an offer by a business to purchase the
site, but we voted to decline the offer and remain at the present site. We
dedicated the new church building in 1975. In November, 2000, Martin
Luther celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
Since Pastor Gerberding's ministry, seven pastors have served Martin
Luther. In 1999 Martin Luther called our eighth pastor, The Rev. Kristine
Totzke, to lead us. |
